I am living in the shadow of my potential
And lately patience seems to be in short supply
While expectation overflows in abundance
Pipe dream, is it not enough that I have tried?
No, I can not accept that you are a failure
The words you chose were ever so carefully placed
It should be of no importance whatsoever
If the message conveyed was not to their taste
I am living in the shadow of my potential
I’m in utero but I will be somebody soon
Burst through these rusty pipes that corrode my dreams
And flood the floor of my creative womb
May I suggest that you are already someone
And that each stroke you paint is as desired
From your cold creative heart to your burning hand
It’s no concern of yours if it doesn’t catch fire

Dear Father, I loved you,
But this truth I shall say.
That you were the demon,
that made me this way!
And though I am hiding,
It's hard when it's lurking beneath:
This anger and hatred,
It's all I believe.
So don't speak or I'll hurt you,
I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
But you are the ending,
Of this broken story.
So tell me, dear Father,
What can you say,
To boy whom you twisted;
When you pushed him away.

I hate to admit-
That I don't stand a chance
All risks turn into rifts-
Our hands will become too...distant

I crumbled inside every time I tried-
I couldn't look you in the eyes
A reflection was all I saw-
The beast within me whose heart was still raw
I'm afraid that trust is a one-way street with me
You can only depend on your own
For I have deemed myself unworthy
While I cling onto the tombstones of massacred hopes
I've abandoned the part of my soul
That connected to others
I was forced to let that side of me go
So never again would I fully mourn for another
A sphere of tears-
Floods my sockets with fear
Knowing that-

What's Left Behind...
Some days I find myself staggering from this hovel;
To stand with shaking legs upon the window ledge.
I look down at the tiny world below, wind rushing before me;
And I wonder if I'll be able to fly tonight...
The caress of the wind, so gentle upon my skin.
One step, one leap and I'd dip myself into the eye of the storm.
But just before my courage sends me;
Just before I take the final plunge.
I find myself looking back, at the world I'd leave behind...
Stacks of paper and a pot of ink,
Reams of stories too precious to burn.
Ideas and fears both rolled into one;
And pages of poetry left undone...
It always leaves me smiling...

I really loved most of this poem but I'm not to sure on the last two lines. I don't know if it's because I don't have as much of a connection to them but they seem like they are on a slightly different vibe then the rest of the poem. Regardless, great work. I think this is more abstract then some of your other work but it turned out very nicely. I would love to see even more "experiments" in your writing in the future!
